God loves gay people
While the Bible is clear in its view of homosexuality, it is essential to remember that God loves all of his creation and offers forgiveness to those who repent and turn away from their sins. Leviticus ~ You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
I do my best to accept Catholic teaching, including in the area of sexuality. But I hope what I write here will be relevant to you no matter what your relationship to faith and to the Catholic Church. I hope I can suggest some new questions, which may provoke a deeper self-acceptance based on a new relationship with a God who is so much more tender than you were taught.
Requiring that all gay people remain celibate is at odds with the Bible’s teachings on celibacy, which are grounded Scripture’s core affirmation that God’s physical creation is good.
It was sort of out of the blue since the discussion was on the return of Jesus, but clearly it was on the heart of at least one, if not many, of the teens there that night.
